Incorporated April 30, 2002 • State of Florida
Member and Director Responsibilities to the Public and to the Client are as follows:
1. Members shall comply with all existing national, state and local laws as well as regulation and codes governing building, civil, criminal and general business procedures as established by all applicable jurisdictions in which they practice.
2. Members shall at all times consider the health, safety and welfare of the client and the general public in consulting, and shall not specify any condition, suggestion or structural change which could compromise the public or the client's health, safety or welfare.
3. Members shall neither offer nor make any payments or gifts to any public official, nor take any other action with the intent of unduly influencing judgment in connection with a project in which the member is interested. Members shall perform with the highest professional and legal conduct.
4. Members practicing Feng Shui who are registered on the list of local practitioners with the IFSG are considered to be representatives of the IFSG, but not official Spokespersons. They may act as Spokespersons on the behalf of the IFSG with prior written consent of the organization.
5. Being listed on the IFSG list of practitioners is an advertisement, not an endorsement, guarantee or recommendation of educational standards, skill or ability of those consultants by the IFSG. (See our disclaimer on the website.) However, truth in advertising background and skills is expected by all members of the IFSG, in their professional listings and on their websites.
6. Member consultants and educators shall continue to expand their Feng Shui knowledge and skills through continuing education as part of their professional growth, as well as to support the development of the Feng Shui profession worldwide.
7. Member consultants shall provide professional service and behavior (whether paid or unpaid) to the public and clients, ensuring their safety physically, spiritually and psychologically. The consultant commits to maintaining integrity, dignity and honesty and upholding the highest reputation of the IFSG and of Feng Shui.
8. Member consultants shall inform potential clients about their background, training and practice of their Feng Shui work. Consultants shall undertake professional work and responsibility which by training and experience they are competent to perform. Consultants should ensure that the client understands the recommendations given during or after their Feng Shui consultation.
9. Confidentiality is of utmost importance. Consultants shall keep confidential any information or photographs about the client or the client's project or family, without permission of the client to use otherwise. Members should inspire confidence in clients, both in their role as consultant and in the work of other consultants or schools of Feng Shui.
10. Consultants shall be candid and truthful in all their professional communications with the clients without inciting fear of adverse situations or exaggerated anticipation of good fortune.
11. Consultants shall act in the best interest of their client to ensure the best possible outcome.
12. Chapter officers, Chapter Directors, Board of Directors, Regional Directors and Country Liaisons are expected to uphold the integrity and mission of the IFSG, including being open to the variety of teachings of our member schools.
13. Financial rewards beyond normal payment should be avoided. Potential conflicts of interests by any member may be openly discussed by the Directors to ensure integrity of actions while representing the IFSG. Any questionable behavior or activity of this nature will be evaluated by the Board and may be grounds for resignation.
14. An annual report of IFSG financial records shall be completed no later than June 15 for the prior year, and will be provided if a written request is made to the Executive Director or a Board member. Chapter financial records will be requested by the Executive Director or Administrative office in cases where dispersal of funds by a chapter is in question. The highest integrity is expected in the use of funds generated by a Chapter or by the IFSG administration in the collection of funds.
15. Membership is open to any student or practitioner regardless of age, sexual orientation, race, religious beliefs, physical challenges, or Feng Shui tradition or school.
